1850 pts Chaos vs Sisters of Battle

Welcome to Warp Minor everyone. This section of my blog is dedicated to everything table-top gaming. For now, its all Warhammer 40k and in the near future, Warhammer Fantasy as well. This blog will cover painting updates and pictures, as well as Battle Reports such as this one. Quality of posts will increase with time as I learn how to do this effectively. I will probably do pictures of awesome moments, and end of turn battle-field overhead to give everyone an idea of how the battle went better. For tonight's report however, It completely slipped my mind. I am playing a small game tomorrow and a big game Saturday so lets hope I remember. Onward.

Also I will be sure to get the opponents list in detail to show you. I have my list this game but not theirs. I will try to remember his full army with wargear but it will be missing components, I guarantee you. My bad! This is actually my first game playing with the new chaos codex, as well as one of my fist games of 6th edition since August.

So my 1850 pt Chaos army was as follows:

Headquarters:
1. Daemon Prince with wings, power armor, daemon of slaanesh, black mace, gift of mutation – 270

The Sisters list included something like this...

Hq:
Uriah Jacobus
Battle Dialogus

Troop:
10 battle sisters, 2 melta
They had an immolater transport

10 battle sisters, multimelta and melta (no transport)
10 battle sisters, multimelta and melta
They had a Rhino
Troop/Elite (not completely sure which category they fell under)
Two squads of 5 battle sisters, multi-melta and melta and combi plasma
The had Immolator transports

Heavy:
Retributor Squad, 5 heavy bolters
Exorcist Battle Tank
Exorcist Battle Tank

Guard Allies:
Hq:
Primaris Psyker

Troop:
Guardsmen with plasma and rocket
Guardsmen with plasma and rocket

Fast:
Hellhound

Also an Aegis defense line with a quad-gun

Going off that, we had the mission Purge the Alien (basically killpoints) and the Short Table-Edge deployment (Hammer and Anvil I think?). I rolled and went first, he did not steal the initiative. No Night-Fighting as well.

Terrain:
The board was cluttered with buildings and forest. Rarely was there a direct line of sight for any unit which created interesting strategies for both sides. There was almost always a cover save, it wasn't until turn 3 that the terrain began to play less of a factor.

Deployment:
I deployed my rhinos one in front of the other as far up as I could put them, alongside a squad of 10 marines with the lascannon, the daemon prince hiding behind a building, and another squad of 10 marines on the opposite side The Obliterator deployed just behind the rhinos and the predator deployed behind everything else on the opposite side of the obliterator. The Hellbrute was alongside the daemon prince.

He deployed much of his army behind his defense line, and the three immolator transports with units were kept in reserve to outflank. The guardsmen deployed in buildings and the hellhound deployed very far up. His exorcist tanks were on opposing sides of his table-edge, near the beginning of his deployment zone. Uriah Jacobus deployed behind the defense line attached to the quad-gun with a 10 woman battle sister squad.

Warlord traits.
I rolled from the chaos codex and received Hatred for my Warlord and his unit.
He rolled from the rulebook and was able to re-position some of his units after deployment.

Chaos Boon Table: Gifts of Mutation
Daemon Prince - Recieved +1 to his armor save, so a 2+ save daemon prince
Chaos Lord - Recieved shrouded (2+ to his cover save)
Aspiring Champion on the Berzerker squad- received hatred

Turn 1:
Chaos
Movement:
My Daemon Prince started the game in gliding mode and hid behind a building. The defiler charged up through difficult terrain and of course, he immobilized himself right off the bat which also took him down to 3 hullpoints. The two marine squads moved up closer to buildings, my hellbrute moved up alongside the two chaos rhinos which also moved a full 12 inches each up the board. The Obliterator shifted slightly for line of sight. The Predator stayed put as it had enough sight to fire all of its guns at a target... a luxury on this board.

Shooting:
First I decided to run both marine squads closer to the buildings, both did not reach yet. The Predator fired all three lascannons at an exorcist tank and managed to penetrate all three times. Of-course, there was a 4+ cover save from all of the terrain and the defense-line in the way; only one penetrating hit got through which managed to stun the exorcist. The Helbrute fired its plasma cannon, which got hot right away and removed a hullpoint off the Helbrute. The Defiler shot its battle cannon and reaper autocannon at the quad gun and the surrounding squad, managing to kill 2 battle sisters and not damaging the quad gun. The obliterator shot its lascannon at the hellhound and did nothing.

No Assault phase this early on.
The defiler rolled for its It Will Not Die, and managed to regain its hullpoint. Still immobilized however.

Sisters
Movement:
The not stunned exorcist shifted slightly for a line of sight on a marine squad, and the hellhound moved up into a forest area, making its terrain test. Everything else stayed put.

Shooting:
The one guardsmen squad shot its rocket at the defiler, completely missing. The second guardsmen squad shot at a marine squad, killing two marines however the plasma gun guardsmen exploded. The not stunned exorcist managed 4 shots and 4 wounds on the same marine squad, but they only failed one save. One marine squad down to 7 men. The quad gun shot at the defiler, managing a glance but it made its daemon 5+ inv save. The hellhound shot its multi-melta at one of the rhinos, managing to penetrate and get a weapon destroyed (oh no, the bolter!). The str 6 flamer also shot at the rhinos, hitting both on side armor. The rhino that had its weapon destroyed was fine, but the other rhino was penetrated and actually got a weapon destroyed as well. Lucky me.

Assault: Nothing

Turn 2:
Chaos
Movement:
I first roll for the Helbrute to see if it goes insane... and it does... kind of. It got the firing frenzy result where it does not move, but it shoots the closest enemy twice. That is resolved in the shooting phase.
I declare that my daemon prince is now swooping, and he flies over a rhino transport carrying a battle sister squad, doing a vector strike. It manages to get a penetrating hit but gets a weapon destroyed result... another storm bolter gone! He lands behind the aegis defenseline, ready to strike the squad manning the quad gun. Both marine squads move successfully move into a ruin and a building. The obliterator charges up 6 inches out of cover and back into more cover. The predator does not move, and both rhinos move up closer, also popping smoke.

Shooting:
The Helbrute shoots its plasma cannon twice, not getting hot, at the battle sister squad manning the quad gun, killing another two sisters. The lascannon predator shoots at the stunned exorcist and destroys it outright, granting me first blood. The Obliterator shoots its multi-melta at the hellhound, and does nothing. The missile launcher marine squad shoots everything (except the missile) at the guardsmen squad in the building across the street from them, killing two guardsmen. The second marine squad shoots a plasma gun at the side armor of the rhino and does nothing. The defiler shoots at the Retributor squad with its battle cannon and reaper autocannon. He goes to ground, but I still manage to kill 3 Retributors.

Assault: Nothing yet, soon...

Sisters
Movement:
All of his reserves now come in on both long-table edges, the one squad of 5 coming in behind my predator, the one squad of 5 coming in behind my Helbrute, and the squad of 10 coming in infront of the building where my marines are in, and close to the daemon prince. Nothing else moved for him. He disembarks all three squads out of their transports, and the fourth from the rhino.

Shooting:
As you can probably tell, im in trouble. He first shoots his one guardsmen squad at my marine squad in the ruins, failing to do anything. He shoots the second guardsmen squad at my defiler, again failing to do anything. The one exorcist tank shoots at the marines, but I make all of my saves. The quad gun shoots at my daemon prince, doing a wound on him. The rest of the squad manning the gun shoots at the daemon prince, managing three hits and two wounds. I actually fail both saves rolling snake-eyes, so my daemon prince only has one wound left. He is not grounded. The one squad of 5 has no problem destroying my predator, but it explodes and kills a model of his. The immolator shoots its multi-melta at the back of my Defiler and fails to do any damage. The second squad of 5 shoots at the back rhino and wrecks it, leaving my berzerker squad with the lord exposed. The immolator transport shoots its multi-melta at the Helbrute and destroys it as well. The Hellhound shoots its flamer at the exposed berzerkers and kills 3 of them. A squad of 10 battle sisters is able to rapid fire at the berzerkers, and kills everyone but the sergeant and the lord. The 10 battle sisters that outflanked proceeded to shoot at the building my marines were in, destroying the building. the marines got out, but were then quickly dispatched by the surrounding battle sisters.
Assault: Nothing

Turn 3:
Chaos
Movement:
Passing leadership checks all around, I move my Lord and Sergeant towards the squad of 5 sisters. I disembark my full squad of 10 berzerkers and move them towards a squad of 10 battle sisters. My daemon prince is now gliding and moves towards the squad and hq manning the quad gun. My defiler cannot move, and my marine squad in the ruins is staying put. My Obliterator moves up another 5 inches through difficult terrain.

Shooting:
My lord and sergeant shoot their bolt pistols at the sisters squad of 5 and kill 1 sister with a melta. The full squad of 10 berzerkers shoot their pistols at the squad of 10 and kill 4 sisters, including a melta. My defiler turns around and shoots its battle cannon and reaper autocannon at the sister squad of 5, and the battle-cannon scatters onto the immolator as well. I manage to kill the remaining sisters and immobilize the immolator. The marine squad shoots at the guardsmen squad across the street and kills one more guardsman. The obliterator shoots its lascannon at the hellhound and misses.

Assault:
I issue a charge with my daemon prince. Overwatch does nothing, and his sister sergeant issues a challenge. I accept and quickly kill her. That combat is over until next turn. My sergeant and lord issue a charge and overwatch does nothing. I have to issue a challenge with both units, and he accepts the challenge with the lord. The lord quickly kills the sister sergeant, and the berzerker sergeant quickly kills the rest of the squad. Boon Table! The lord gets crusader. I declare a charge with the full squad of berzerkers, and the overwatch kills two berzerkers. I issue a challenge with my sergeant, and he accepts with his. My sergeant quickly kills the other sergeant... Boon Table! The sergeant gains +1 str... It only roll for 5 berzerkers because I don't have enough dice to do all of the attacks at once, and with rage and hatred for the first round of combat, I easily kill the rest of the squad.

Sisters
Movement:
He moves his 2 man sister squad closer to the defiler, the hellhound moves closer to the obliterator, and that is it.

Shooting:
He shoots his remaining exorcist tank at my marines again, killing one more. Both guardsmen squads shoot at the defiler, and fail to do anything once again. The sister squad of 10 that is not in combat shoots everything at the berzerkers, and kills three. The immolator transport tank-shocks my sergeant and lord, they move out of the way. The immobilized immolator transport shoots its multi-melta at the back of the defiler, which does nothing once again. The Retributor squad now not on ground shoots its heavy bolters at the rhino transport, doing nothing. The third immolator transport shoots its multi-melta at the rhino transport, looking for kill points, and destroys it. The hellhound shoots at my obliterator and does nothing.

Assault Phase:
He issues a challenge with his Hq unit Uriah Jacobus and my daemon prince accepts. My daemon prince makes quick work of his Hq, giving me slay the warlord and also another killpoint.

The game ends here. I know it is only turn three but the club was closing and we had to end it here. There was plenty that happened in this game in only 3 turns, and it was a great game to play.

Chaos Victory!

Being my fist game with the new codex, and one of my first in a long time with 6th edition, I was very pleased with how this game turned out. It was a great game with lots of randomness and it was a good time for both sides. Never playing sisters before, this was definitely an interesting experience.

This battle report is definitely choppy at best, I know. Next game I will have pictures, proper lists, and detailing of what happens.

Warp Minor, signing off.
